Hello, girls!
Prepare yourselves because this will be a loong post as I decided to talk about all dissapointing products I have in my collection at the moment, both makeupwise and skincare/haircare. I really don't like talking bad of beauty products because they don't necessarely are but they don't work for me so if I have the opportunity to let you know these kind of dissapointing stuff I tried over the time, I want to do it. Let's dig in, shall we?
Alverde Naturkosmetik Intensiv Handcreme Granatapfel Karitebutter should have been the replacement for my beloved Cera di Cupra hand cream, but I don't like it at all. It's sooo greasy and tacky and no matter how well I'm rubbing it into my hands it just "sits" on top of my skin. And the smell is not really my cup of tea, but that would be nothing if the actual cream would work. I'm still trying to use it from time to time when my hands are really dry and also on my heels, but only before going to bed. And in the morning I feel my hands are still greasy. Mosturised, but greasy.
I've purchased
Garnier Ultra Doux Softening Conditioner Aloe Vera and Vegetable Milk a while ago thinking that it would soften my hair a bit as my current shampoo does dries it to some extent. But I feel it makes my hair so oily and I don't really use on my roots, just the ends. I've tried a couple of ways of application and it doesn't work for me unfortunately so it will probably end up as cream shave.
Anian Natural Hair Conditioner Cream was a purchase a couple of months ago for the same moisturising reason but it doesn't do anything to my hair. As the bottle is 1000 ml I've figured it out I could use it as cream shave or in-shower moisturiser.
I had high expectations for the Cyclax Cocoa Butter & Wallnut Exfoliating Body Scrub but the formula is so wrong! It's too thin and runny and particles are kind of sparse that I really have to work to get the proper exfoliation done. I love thicker scrubs that get the job done with little effort so this one is a pass for me.
No it's not the actual
Urban Decay Naked 2 palette that dissapointed me but the
FAKE one! I've bought it from Ebay for about 20 Euro and the seller assured me it's the real one but he gets them cheaper because he buys them from a wholeseller. I kind of knew that this was not authentic but I wanted it very much so I took the risk. Big mistake! I mean it pretty much looks the same as the original Naked 2 but the quality of the eyeshadows is showing big flaws.
They are gritty and chalky, the color pay off is not what I expected, the eyeshadows all come with a metallic finish and some of them have large glitter particles inside. I mean I still use them in combination with other eyeshadows but they aren't really what I wanted. I have also the original Naked 1 palette so I could do the difference in quality.
Fake Naked 2 Half Baked, Naked 1 Half Baked
Here's an example: the shade Half Baked is in both palettes but the difference is obvious. The original eyeshadow is creamy, intense and very smooth while the fake one obviously misses the intensity and smoothness of the real Half Baked.
I love Wet n Wild eyeshadows, they are so smooth and creamy, but these duos here are really a miss. They are called
Wet n Wild Duo Eyeshadows in
Light Brown & Brown and
Lilac & Violet. The colors look great in the pan but in reality they are among the worst eyeshadows in my collection.
Light Brown & Brown are really patchy eyeshadows, the color pay off is not great and they don't blend well at all. Plus, they fade even on top of primer or eyeshadow base.
Lilac & Violet are so dry and have the least amount of intensity that I can't even make them show on the skin, dry or wet. I had to rub very hard to even get them on my fingertips.
ELF Endless Eyes 100 Eyeshadow Palette was kind of an expected dissapointment as I kind of knew that these weren't the greatest eyeshadows. Usually when drugstore brands put together these huge eye palettes, usually they aren't the best but they are workable. I like most of ELF Eyeshadows, especially the baked ones, but from this huge palette I have a hard time to find some decent pigmented eyeshadows. I mean I'm still using them but I'm definitely not fond of these eyeshadows.
I was drawn to the beautiful shades of the
LA Colors Eye Design Palette, but I feel they aren't very good quality. They are soft and decently pigmented, but the fall out is pretty massive and all the shades have an overspray of glitter on top. The thing that actually makes me want to pass up this palette is the smell! It's so annoying!
I had these
Oriflame Giordani Gold eye Pearls #Smoky Quartz for a while now and while I was really intrigued in the begining of the idea of eyeshadow pearls they are really not a good idea, at least not for me. First of all, it's very hard to pick up the color on any eyeshadow brush, you really need to dig into them or to partially crush them to get some decent color. Second, even if they are a few shades of grey and silver, all of them show up like an white shimmer on the skin.
Essence Stay All Day Long Lasting Eyeshadow #01 Coppy Right was a purchase from a blogsale a while ago and I thought of it as a more affordable dupe for Maybelline's Color Tattoo in On and on bronze (and dedicated them a post
here), it dried out so quickly and all my efforts to revive it were in vain. The product itself was not the worst, but I hate when creamy products dry up so fast.
I wanted to love this eyeliner gel so much, you know my addiction to these little pots, but
Sephora Cream Eyeshadow and Liner #Purple night let me down so badly. I mean I love the color, it looks great in the small jar but on the skin the formula is just bad. It's patchy, it's way too tick and I can't make it even on the eyes with any of my brushes. Such a dissapointment!
Flormar Eyeliner Pen was a total fail from the begining, the felt tip is too dry no matter the position I store it and the black is more of a grey that show up really faded on the skin.
Essence I Love Stage Eyeshadow Base is a product that I've looking forward to try and it let me down from the first use because it doesn't work at all. It's great for neutralizing any veins on my lids but everything I put on my eyes it creases like hell on top of this one.
I've recently talked about
Rimmel London Exaggerate Undercover Shadow Primer so some of you already know why this one made it to the black list. It's simply not working. At all!
Bourjois Elastic Unlimited Mascara is not really a dissapointment for me but I don't consider it very good also. Lately, I've been using it only for my lower lashes because it separates and gives them a little definition, but on it's own it doesn't do much for my eyelashes. It all blackens them and gives them a little definition, but no volume and lenghtening.
L'Oreal Volume Millions Lashes Waterproof Mascara is my first L'Oreal mascara and I'm not impressed at all. Again, it doesn't do almost anything for my lashes, no volume, no curl, no lenghtening. Too bad!
W7 Deluxe Eyebrow Pencil #Dark Brown was actually a favorite of mine when i first started to use but then I had to sharpen it. And the whole pencil inside was breaking into pieces that I had to sharpen half of the pencil and still looks awful. I'm so dissapointed with this one!
In the brushes department, I had mainly 2 brushes that I'm not very happy with:
Essence Eyeshadow Brush and
Estee Lauder Lip Brush. The eyeshadow brush from Essence is way to small and doesn't pick product as it should have, and it's not dense enough that the finish of the eye look to be impecable. The lip brush from Estee Lauder is really not great for applying any kind of lip products, it's too big and too stif and it doesn't give too much control to have a flawless lip contour.
ELF Jumbo Lip Gloss #Tiki Torches was a let down since the moment I've seen the amount of gold large glitter. I mean bronzy lips and everything but after it dries out on the lips all I'm left with are a lot of golden glitter particles around my mouth. Not cute!
Revlon Just Bitten Lip Stain+Balm #Fate is probably the biggest dissapointment in the lip products departement. I mean not only the color is really off, but the formula really sucks! It's so patchy and it sets imediatelly in the fine lines, just imagine rubbing a marker to your lips.
Ivatherm Nourishing and Repairing Lip Balm is actually not a bad product, I just hate the way it feels on the lips. And the ball applicator doesn't help either. I mean it has a fruity scent and it moisturises but it's so tick on the lips and the fact that I have to spread it out with the damn applicator makes me pass it up on a regular basis.
Love at first brush
