Hello!
Those of you who read me know that I changed my haircare routine quite a bit in the last 6 months as I was not satisfied at all with the state of my hair and especially the incresing hair loss and scalp itchiness. My first Iherb order was mainly for getting a shampoo with natural ingredients that won't harm my hair and scalp and help fight the issues I had. So I came to purchase Nature's Gate Biotin Strenghtening Shampoo which it's almost finished at the moment I'm writting this review and I have another backup in my drawer as my second Iherb order just arrived this week.
Here's what it claims to do:
"Natures Gate Biotin Shampoo helps fortify weak hair. Utilizing Biotin , an array of fortifying amino acids and our nurturing 7 healthy hair nutrients, this shampoo helps hair look and feel stronger, vibrant and full of life.
Exclusive healthy hair blend includes panthenol, soy proteins, vegetable proteins, jojoba oil, borage flower seed oil, vitamin C and vitamin E.
- B vitamins, biotin, folic acid and niacin are well known for their important role in hair health
- Jojoba oil helps restore the natural moisture level of hair
- Panthenol (vitamin B5) and soy protein help fortify hair
- Vegetable proteins condition and moisturize, helping to diminish the appearance of split ends."
I was drawn to it for a couple of reasons: the biotin that should help with the hair loss, the good ingredients that should insure a gentle cleaning, it adresses to fragile, thin hair (such as mine) and the very good price (5.47$/532 ml).
The packaging is actually kind of great : big, white, round bottle with a cap that opens kind of hard (it screwed my nail polish a couple of times:D), but that protects it from spilling during shipping all the way from USA to Romania.
The formula is different from other shampoos I've tried onver the time, as it's not liquidy or creamy, but more like a tacky clear-yellow gel. The scent is herbally, almost like mint, not very appealing but for me this is not an issue. What I've noticed from the first use is that it doesn't make too much mouse and I need a larger amount than usual to lather my hair throughly.
My hair was on the oily side, with my roots becoming greasy from the second day, but ever since using this shampoo, it almost dried out my hair if not for using a conditioner, hair mask and leave-in treatment. It's not really a bad thing, more because now I wash my hair every 3 days, whilst I used to wash it every 2 days. The perfect formula for me is to use a conditioner before or after and a leave in treatment.
The itchiness and small scalp flakes have gone after the first use, so I'm really impressed as this was the main reason for which I switched from Wella Proffessionals shampoos.Ever since I've started using it, I've noticed some improvements in the hair fall department so I know it's working, slowly, but it's working.
The state of my hair has changed towards what I want and while I know it's a combination of various products that I use, this shampoo had its fair contribution. It looks much healthier and strong, it's shiny and it's easier to style it. If you're in need of a change in your haircare routine, you should give it a try, you can find it online here.
