Hello!
Between me and Wella Professionals Brilliance Shampoo and Treatment for Fine to Normal Coloured Hair there is long history going back almost 2 years. I've bought the two constantly from my hair salon where I usually do my hair, but they had only the 250 ml shampoo bottle so last summer I bought the 1000 ml bottle from Fragrance Direct. My thought is that the larger bottle version is for proffesional use so the formula is stronger than for 250 ml bottles.
The shampoo and the treatment did some great things for my hair, in terms of strenght, shine, smoothness and easy combing for a long time. There is a before and after in my haircare routine for these products, as I had been using only drugstore haircare products before starting with the Wella Proffesionals range. If you can feel a "but", there is as I stop using the shampoo in December because I had noticed some increasing scalp itching and flakiness and increased hair loss. My hairdresser told me the cause might be the prolonged use of the professional version of this shampoo as she confirmed me there is a difference between the two formulas. So I started using the sensitive scalp shampoo from Wella and short afterwards the problems ceased so I know she was right.
I know that my issues are only valid in my case so I don't want to imply by any means that what I've just talked about is a negative remark about the product itself. This doesn't affect my review of the product, but it seemed fair to talk about my issues with the product so that you know what to expect if you've been using the 1000 ml bottle as I did.
Both are destined for fine to normal, dyed hair and they claim to give shine, vitality and enhance vibrancy of hair color. The formula includes diamond dust for shiny hair. For the longest time, I enjoyed so much the clean sensation, the silky feel and the nice sweet smell that both shampoo and hair mask have.
For me, it was one of the best combo I ever used for my hair, it really changed the way my hair looked and felt, the dye resist a lot more, my hair is healthy, smooth and shiny. And the fragrance is sooo nice, a little too strong but nothing major, and so persistant.
My haircare routine using these Wella products included 1 lather of shampoo, then rinse, then one apply on damp towelled hair of the hair treatment avoiding the roots. I leave it for 10 to 20 minutes than rinse out.
There are some differences I've spotted between the 250 ml bottles of shampoo we find in most salons and professional stores and the professional version for salons exclusive: the texture is thicker for the professional one, the perfume is stronger and a smaller quantity is needed for the same amount of foam. I'm thorn between saying I like better the professional version or the one for personal use, as the professional one has better results but on the long term it turned out to be too strong for my scalp. That's unfortunate because I really liked it, but I couldn't pass over the itching it gaved my scalp.
The treatment is still in my haircare routine, I have not abandon it as it doesn't have anything to do with my scalp problems. It such a luxurios hair mask, very concentrated so I use only a small amount usually on the lower half of my hair. It leaves my hair very smooth, glossy and healthy looking. I find that the best results were achieved together with the shampoo, but it does great also combined with other shampoo. This will always be a rebuy even though I use only once a week or once at two weeks, depending on what my hair needs at the moment.
These are from the permanent line so you can easily find them in hair salons, online (Fragrance Direct, Feel Unique, Beauty Bay, StrawberryNET) or in professional haircare stores. I noticed though there is differences in the pricing, I find that the best bargains are at salons and on Fragrance Direct.
